During Christmas 2020 we organised ‘Twelve Days of Christmas Concerts’ live on Zoom for care homes to connect residents with relatives & loved ones.

Relatives from around the world joined the residents live on screen

  • In one concert, 4 generations of the same family located as far apart as Spain, Mexico and Essex were able to sing carols together.

  • In another we had 9 members of the same family joining us from Florida, San Francisco and LA.

  • In many concerts we had over a dozen relatives included on the Zoom call.

Care Homes often also used the concerts to ‘connect’ internally

Some homes ensured groups on separate floors/units were able to all join the call live together and see each other

Others used spare iPads at the home to include individual bed/room-bound residents in the live concert.

“Can we do this again after lockdown? - it’s the first time I’ve been able to do something with my aunt for years!”

— Relative from the US, talking about resident in London care home.

“It’s only since your concert that I’ve started to feel Christmas-y this year!”

— Pam, resident

 What were the concerts like?

If you’re interested in knowing more about the concerts, here’s what was on offer…

Your favourite Christmas songs

If you’d like your residents to select the songs that we sing then great!… either in advance or even live during the concert.

To get you thinking about your favourites, the video above has snippets of three Christmas classics (recorded on Zoom so you can see what it’ll look like) or click the button for a list to really get you in the festive mood…

Bring residents & relatives together

Technology has been a lifeline for us to keep in touch this year, so our concert will be live on ‘Zoom’.

That’s why you’re encouraged to send the Zoom invite to residents’ family & friends wherever they are; so, at a time that they may not be able to be together physically they can all sing and share the experience live, together.

How it works…

2

Technology is amazing, but sometimes it needs a little TLC. So once we’ve booked a date, we’ll have a chat in advance to check all the boring technical ‘stuff’ is working ok. Plus we’ll talk about how to make the celebration as personal to your home as possible.

3

We’ll send you login details for your concert in advance, so on the day just print out the song sheets, bring some mince pies, mulled wine and your best Christmas voices!

Do you know someone who’ll be on their own this Christmas?

This year, more elderly people than ever are potentially going to spend the festive period on their own. That’s why the open concerts (Option 3) will be entirely free to anyone who is living alone and is able to access the internet.

So if you know anyone who might benefit, just click on the button below…
