Christmas online FAQs
You may not have hosted a live online concert before, so here are the answers to a few questions - but by all means get in touch if you have others…
What equipment do I need?
The minimum you’ll need is either a computer, laptop, ipad or tablet and an internet connection.
The whole experience - sound, vision (and level of christmas cheer!) - will be even better if you’re able to link up to a smart tv, so that more residents can watch communally, (social distancing-permitting of course).
What will the sound and vision quality be like?
That depends to some extent on what you’re playing it on. Smart TVs are best. From my end it will be shot in my home studio with professional recording equipment - the video of the songs you can see on this website were recorded on Zoom, to give you an idea of what it can look and sound like.
What if I’m not going to be at the home on the day?
It’s important that someone is there at your end to co-ordinate things on the day - to make sure the technology is working properly, organise song sheets (and mince pies) and encourage everyone to get involved. If that won’t be you then it would be great to talk to them in advance so that everyone knows exactly what’s going to happen.
I’m not very technical…
Don’t worry! Once you have expressed interest in a session we will arrange a call or Zoom to discuss any questions and do a ‘dry run’ to ensure the technology works well enough for your residents to enjoy the experience. Nothing beats being ‘in the room’ but as a live, interactive music experience this is the next best thing - and so we want to do everything possible to ensure the quality of that experience is top notch.
Have you done this before??!
Since the first Lockdown in March 2020 I’ve delivered over 300 hours of live music via Zoom to groups and individuals in care homes. Have a look at other pages on this website if you want to find out more.
I’ve been a full-time music therapist working in care homes for 10 years.
Can you pre-record a concert instead?
Of course. If we can’t find a time to do it live, or if the technology looks like it might be problematic, I’ll happily pre-record a concert for you. I’ll still make it as personalised as possible so it will be good to have names of residents, favourite songs, even messages from loved ones if you can get them.
Can we watch it on YouTube or Facebook?
Zoom is the best platform for a live event of this type because it provides the most opportunity for interactivity. However we can certainly stream it live via YouTube if that works better for you.
How do I pay?
I can invoice you, or alternatively you can pay directly through PayPal.
